IG Motorway Police stresses strict enforcement of traffic laws across highways, motorways

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP): Inspector General (IG) of National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry on Thursday chaired the monthly Regional Conference to review overall performance and key operational matters of all zones across the country.
The conference was attended by Additional Inspectors General and Deputy Inspectors General, and a comprehensive review of the overall performance of all zones nationwide was conducted, along with a detailed assessment of key operational matters and strategies, said a press release.
Addressing the participants, IG Motorway Police Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry directed that traffic laws on national highways and motorways must be enforced effectively and without discrimination under all circumstances. He emphasized that providing timely and quality assistance to commuters was the core responsibility of the Motorway Police.
He further directed that a prompt response in any emergency situation must be ensured, as service and assistance remain the hallmark of the Motorway Police. He instructed that the Motorway Police Helpline 130 be made more active and responsive to ensure public convenience and prompt support.
The IG directed officers to maintain courteous behavior with commuters and to further enhance the institution’s positive image through their professional conduct. Stressing the importance of effective patrolling and proactive operational activities, he instructed that strict implementation of traffic laws must be ensured to further reduce the rate of accidents.
IG Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry also directed that the scope of road safety briefings and public awareness campaigns be expanded to promote compliance with traffic laws as a shared social responsibility.
He reiterated that the protection of life and property of citizens was the foremost priority of the National Highways and Motorway Police and directed that all available resources be utilized to achieve this objective.
The IG instructed all officers and officials to strictly adhere to the core values of the organization, courtesy, integrity, transparency, and professionalism and to further strengthen public trust through their conduct.
He directed senior officers to remain in continuous contact with their subordinate staff and ensure that legitimate issues faced by employees are resolved on a priority basis.
