PESHAWAR, Oct 06 (APP):Muhammad Ahmad has set new national record in 50m Under-12 Breaststroke while Sindh was leading the medal table in the ongoing 23rd National Junior Age Group Swimming Championship here at
Adil Khan Swimming Pool here on Saturday.
Muhammad Ahmad succeeded in breaking the old record of Aniq
Anwar of Sindh who clocked 00.38.63sec during the 22nd edition in
2017 by recording new national record with the time 00.37.69sec and grabbed
first gold medal for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Director General Sports Junaid Khan appreciated the Muhammad
Ahmad by creaking a new national record in the 50m breaststroke Under-12
category and expressed the hope that he would continue his hard working to win
more such credentials in future. Rehan Maqbool of Sindh got silver medal and
Saeed of KP won bronze medal respectively.
President KP Swimming Association Asif Orakzai, Secretary
Saluhuddin, former Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah also greeted promising
Muhammad Ahmad for his stunning performance in the presence of swimmers from
Punjab and Sindh.
In the other events on the second day, Sindh
In the 200m breaststroke Under-16 Zeeshan Abbas of Sindh won
gold medal, followed by Abdul Hanan of Punjab and Zarzar Adnan Ali of Sindh won
bronze medal, in the 400m Under-14 Sameer Asif won gold medal, followed by
Muhammad Yousaf, also from Sindh, and Khawjah Feroaz of Punjab. In the Under-12
100m free style Ibrahim Rashid of Punjab won gold medal, Mekail Faisal of
Punjab and Aman Siddique of Sindh, in the Under-14 200m breaststroke Zanial of
Punjab won gold medal, followed by Saif Baig of Sindh and Rehman, also from
Sindh with silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the 200m butterfly
Munib Sheikh of Sindh won gold medal. He also made new national record in the
event, followed by Danial of Sindh and Waqas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In the 200m back stroke Abid of Sindh won gold medal,
followed by Hamza Khaliq of Sindh and Fahad of KP, in the 4X100m free style
relay Punjab won first position, followed by Sindh and KP. In the 200 IM Taha
Hashmi won gold medal, Muhammad Yousaf bagged silver medal and Abdullah Salam
of Punjab won bronze medal.
In the Under-16 100m Sindh swimmers dominated the event by
winning gold medal, silver and bronze medal. Abid and Hamza got first and
second position while Fahad of KP got bronze medal.
In the 200m free style Aman Siddique of Sindh won gold
medal, followed by Mekial of Punjab and Jazim Abbas of Sindh got third position
with bronze medal.
