ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration detained more than 15 professional beggars during a city operation as part of an ongoing anti-beggary campaign aimed at reducing street begging and seeking public support.
The Assistant Commissioner (City) led a series of operations in Islamabad under the anti-beggary campaign, resulting in the detention of more than 15 professional beggars.
According to the district administration, the campaign is being carried out in different areas of the city to discourage organized begging and ensure better public order. The operations focused on locations where complaints about professional beggars had been frequently reported.
Officials said the detained individuals were found engaged in begging at busy roads, markets, and public places. The administration stated that action was taken in line with existing laws to control the practice and address public concerns.
The Assistant Commissioner (City) urged citizens to cooperate with the district administration in making Islamabad free from begging. The AC appealed to residents not to encourage the practice by giving money at traffic signals, markets, or outside commercial centers.
The administration also asked citizens to report professional beggars to the relevant authorities so timely action could be taken. Officials said public cooperation is necessary for the success of the campaign and for maintaining order in the city.
The district administration said the campaign is part of routine enforcement measures and aims to address complaints raised by residents and traders. Officials added that coordination is being maintained with law enforcement agencies to ensure smooth operations.
Citizens were again requested to support the efforts of the administration by following official guidelines and reporting violations. The administration said collective effort is required to reduce street begging and maintain discipline in public spaces.
