NATHIAGALI, Feb 12 (APP):In response to ongoing snowfall in Galiyat, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram Thursday conducted a surprise inspection of snow clearance operations and directed concerned departments to speed up road restoration work to ensure public convenience and smooth traffic flow.
Acting on the directives of the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district administration has intensified efforts to keep main roads and link roads open for residents and tourists visiting the snow-covered hill station.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected snow removal work on main roads and link roads and directed officials to ensure uninterrupted facilities for residents and tourists. He expressed dissatisfaction over the poor performance and operational shortcomings observed in the snow clearance efforts of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) and the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, reprimanding the concerned officers and staff.
The DG GDA and the Executive Engineer (XEN) C&W Roads were instructed to mobilize teams more effectively and accelerate the road clearance process to improve efficiency. Meanwhile, the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority (PKHA) in restoring roads was appreciated, and field staff were encouraged for their efforts.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the GDA Control Room and Rescue 1122 station, where he met staff members and commended their services during the snowfall emergency.
He inspected the Main Murree Road and several link roads, met with local residents and tourists, listened to their concerns, and issued on-the-spot directives to relevant departments for prompt resolution of issues.
In addition, DC Abbottabad visited the Rural Health Center Nathia Gali to review healthcare facilities, checked staff attendance, and issued necessary instructions to ensure effective service delivery. Additional Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Muhammad Tariq and other concerned officials accompanied him during the visit.
