PESHAWAR, Feb 10 (APP): Provincial Ombudsperson for Women Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rubab Mehdi, and Commissioner Hazara Division, Fayaz Ali Shah on Tuesday chaired a khuli katchery to provide awareness, guidance and immediate facilitation to women regarding their rightful share in inheritance and protection from workplace harassment.
During the proceedings, the provincial Ombudsperson and commissioner listened to citizens’ complaints and problems and issued directives to the concerned departments for their prompt and effective resolution.
On the occasion, Provincial Ombudsperson gave a detailed briefing on the performance of her office, restoration of women’s inheritance rights and timely disposal of harassment cases. She stated that the Office of the Provincial Ombudsperson is striving to provide free, swift and dignified justice to women reaffirming her commitment to utilize all available resources in the future to safeguard women’s property rights and their rights at workplaces.
Commissioner Hazara Division appreciated the role of the Office of the Provincial Ombudsperson and said that due to this institution, women now have easier and faster access to justice.
He assured full cooperation from divisional and district administrations and emphasized that Islam, the constitution and Shariah give special importance to women’s rights and their role in society development cannot be undermined.
He stated that ensuring women’s rightful share in inheritance and providing them with a safe and conducive working environment is our collective responsibility.
