ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (APP):The Upper House of Parliament on Friday passed a motion
authorizing the Chairman Senate to nominate ten members in Parliamentary
Committee investigating allegations of rigging in elections held on July 25,
2018.
Moved by State Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs Ali
Muhammad Khan, the House approved this motion and also authorized the Chairman
Senate to change the composition of Committee on election-rigging which will
comprise 30 lawmakers including 10 Senators.
According to this motion, five Senators each will be from treasury
and Opposition benches.
The Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani also admitted an adjournment motion
for two-hour discussion in any of the next sittings. This motion was moved by Senator
Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh and it was regarding the lack of modernization and
internal accountability system in the Federal Investigation Agency due to which
the Agency could not finalize the investigation in important cases.
Chairman, Standing Committee on
Interior Abdul Rehman Malik presented fourth report of the Standing Committee
on conduct of free, fair and transparent Elections/ Security of General
Elections, 2018.
The House also passed three motions
granting extension to Senate Standing Committees on Interior and Water
Resources for presentation of their reports.
