MURREE, Feb 10 (APP):As Murree received about four inches of snow in a fresh spell that began in the early hours of Tuesday, all major roads remained open and traffic continued to flow normally, the District Police Officer (DPO) Murree said.
DPO Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sipra said light snowfall, continuing intermittently for the past eight hours, had intensified the cold in the hill resort, with the temperature falling to 3°C.
He said the district administration and traffic police swung into action immediately after the snowfall to clear roads, adding that no traffic blockages had been reported anywhere in Murree.
“All main highways are open for traffic, vehicles are moving smoothly and there are no reports of tourists being stranded,” he said, assuring visitors that they could travel to the hill station without fear or hesitation.
Issuing a safety advisory, the DPO warned that visibility could be affected due to fog and changing weather conditions, urging drivers to use fog lights, avoid over-speeding and overtaking, and maintain a safe distance due to slippery roads.
He said traffic police, district police and the administration were deployed across the area to facilitate tourists, adding that in case of an emergency, visitors could contact emergency helpline 15 or the traffic police for assistance.
