ISLAMABAD, Feb 09 (APP): Parliamentary Secretary for Privatisation Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui Monday strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorism in the country, saying that equating terrorists with national martyrs amounts to disrespecting the sacrifices of Pakistan’s fallen heroes.
Speaking in the National Assembly, she said that including terrorists and martyrs in the same casualty count is an insult to the nation’s martyrs.
She said that the House, along with MQM-Pakistan, strongly condemns such narratives.
Referring to recent political developments in Karachi, Ms. Siddiqui said that calls for protest and strikes had been completely rejected by the people.
She said that normal life continued across Karachi, with markets busy and citizens engaged in routine and Eid shopping, reflecting public confidence and rejection of disruptive politics.
Condemning the recent terrorist incidents in Balochistan and the attack on worshippers at an imambargah, the parliamentary secretary said MQM-Pakistan unequivocally denounces terrorism in all its forms and stands with the families of the victims.
Ms. Siddiqui said Pakistan faces three major fault lines — religious, ethnic and political — which are exploited by hostile forces to destabilise the country.
She stressed that deprivation and lack of inclusion push individuals towards extremism, where they are then used by foreign-backed forces for terrorism, including suicide attacks, often driven by poverty and desperation.
