ISLAMABAD, Feb 09 (APP): Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Monday stressed the need for collective efforts, dialogue and cooperation to resolve the country’s pressing national issues.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Achakzai said farmers in Punjab were being forced to discard their crops due to economic and policy difficulties, while Sindh continued to face disputes over water distribution.
He said that Balochistan was grappling with persistent security problems, which required urgent and sincere attention from all stakeholders.
The opposition leader said mistakes were inevitable in governance but emphasized that they must be acknowledged and rectified through dialogue rather than confrontation.
He called for strengthening cooperation among the federation and the provinces to restore trust and stability.
Strongly condemning all forms of terrorism, he referred to recent suicide attacks and bomb blasts in various parts of the country that claimed precious lives and left many others injured, including political leaders.
He said such incidents underscored the gravity of the security situation and the need for a united national response.
Achakzai also stressed the importance of strengthening transparent democratic processes and institutional dialogue to address political and security challenges.
He suggested engaging the United Nations Secretary-General to mobilize international support in dealing with the deteriorating security situation, particularly in conflict-affected regions.
