MoFEPT, WB Technical Mission focus to strengthen Pakistan’s skills ecosystem

ISLAMABAD, Feb 09 (APP): A high-level meeting between the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training (MoFEPT) and a World Bank (WB) Technical Mission was held Monday to discuss institutional arrangements, challenges, and future opportunities in Pakistan’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector.
The meeting was chaired by the Secretary, MoFEPT, Nadeem Mahbub and focused on exploring avenues to strengthen Pakistan’s skills ecosystem, promote youth upskilling, and enhance local as well as international labor mobility. The discussion also provided an opportunity to share lessons from MoFEPT’s experience in skills development and education sector reforms.
The World Bank delegation shared insights from its ongoing Pakistan: Skills, Labor Mobility and Jobs Technical Mission, aimed at supporting evidence-based policy formulation and identifying potential areas for collaboration to address skills gaps and employment challenges.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhter; Additional Secretary MoFEPT, Hassan Saqlain; Director General Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Junaid Ikhlaq; DG NAVTTC, Ms. Farhat and Deputy Secretary MoFEPT, Ms. Ammara Nasim, along with senior officials and representatives of the World Bank.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement and collaboration to support Pakistan’s education, skills development, and labor mobility agenda in line with national priorities.
