LAHORE, Feb 09 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz on Monday chaired a detailed review meeting to assess progress of the ongoing anti-polio campaign, during which it was informed that the district administration had achieved over 100 percent targets by the seventh day of the drive.
The meeting was attended by CEO Health Dr Asif Arbab Khan Niazi, all Assistant Commissioners, District Deputy Health Officers (DDHOs) and observers from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The meeting was briefed that more than 2.2 million children had been administered polio drops across Lahore. It was further shared that special vaccination teams remained deployed at city entry and transit points to vaccinate visiting children arriving during the Basant festivities.
WHO observers expressed satisfaction over the field performance and dedication of polio workers and appreciated the measures taken by the district administration to ensure comprehensive coverage.
On the occasion, DC Muhammad Ali Ejaz said that protecting every child under the age of five from polio was a national responsibility. He stressed the need for continued coordination among all stakeholders to fully realize Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Zero Polio Vision” and to make Lahore permanently polio-free.
