GDA begins workforce rationalisation to reduce financial burden

ABBOTTABAD, Feb 09 (APP):The Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) on Monday announced that it has started a process to regularize its administrative affairs and rationalize its workforce after identifying excessive staff induction in previous years that created a heavy financial burden on the authority.
According to an official statement, the current administration said that systems within GDA are now being managed in a more organized and transparent manner compared to the past, to improve governance and ensure the proper utilization of resources.
The authority clarified that capable and duty-performing employees will continue in their positions and that their jobs are not under threat. However, it revealed that during previous years, a large number of employees were inducted into GDA despite there being no actual requirement. Many of these employees, the statement said, are currently drawing salaries while remaining at their homes.
GDA stated that this over-induction has resulted in an additional annual financial burden of approximately Rs130 to Rs150 million, which has adversely affected both institutional performance and development activities in the region.
The statement said that following the removal of unnecessary and inactive staff, the funds saved will be diverted towards the development of Galiyat, improvement of basic facilities, and the promotion and preservation of the area’s natural beauty.
The authority also noted that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has introduced various policies under which employees restored in accordance with policy after termination will have their legal rights protected.
