CHINIOT, Feb 8 (APP): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) call for a wheel jam and shutter down strike in Chiniot failed to gain traction, with commercial centers and businesses operating normally.
According to APP correspondent, shops, markets, and business centers in the district’s three tehsils – Chiniot, Bhowana, and Lalian – remained open, and traffic flowed smoothly.
The District Traders Association Registered Chiniot held a joint press conference, rejecting the strike call and stating that traders prioritize earning a halal livelihood in a peaceful environment over political affiliations. President Chaudhry Asghar Jatt and other trader leaders emphasized that strikes and chaos aren’t in the country’s interest, especially during a critical situation.
Trader leaders condemned the Islamabad tragedy and prayed for the martyrs’ elevation and patience for their families. They also highlighted the Pakistan Army’s sacrifices and the youth’s contributions to the country’s survival, stating that no political party should be allowed to spread chaos.
The rejection of the strike call by citizens and traders ensured a normal law-and-order situation in Chiniot district, with business life proceeding in favor of the government. The district administration and security forces were on high alert, but their efforts weren’t needed as the situation remained peaceful.
The PTI’s failed strike call reflects the current sentiment in Chiniot, where citizens seem to prioritize stability and economic activity over political agendas.
