Rawalpindi secures 92% polio vaccination coverage with over 914,000 children immunized

RAWALPINDI, Feb 07 (APP): The District Health Authority (DHA), Rawalpindi, reports the successful vaccination of 914,092 children during the ongoing February 2026 National Immunization Days (NID) campaign, representing 92% of the district’s total target, with house-to-house operations already achieving 99% of their planned coverage.
According to the details, the campaign’s aggressive ‘out of house’ strategy contributed 227,083 vaccinations outside of residential visits. By targeting high-traffic and transient zones, including schools 89,543, transit points 33,743 and guests in other households 51,606 children, the mobile teams effectively bridged coverage gaps.
Field teams have demonstrated exceptional efficacy in managing challenges.
Through rigorous follow-up, 127,075 children who were initially recorded as ‘not available’ were recovered and vaccinated on the same day. Furthermore, effective community counseling successfully converted 822 refusals.
CEO Dr Ehsan Ghani, while praising the entire dedicated field teams, supervisors and monitors, extended special gratitude to them. He further lauded the relentless commitment of the workforce, which is evident in the successful vaccination of over 914,000 children and the immediate recovery of unavailable cases.
