D-8 delegation lauds remarkable projects of Punjab govt

LAHORE, Feb 07 (APP): Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb warmly welcomed a high-level delegation comprising member countries of the D-8 at the historic Poonch House in Lahore.
On this occasion, an informal D-8 retreat was held during a vibrant Basant
cultural ceremony, in which Pakistani and international delegations participated under the leadership of D-8 Secretary General Ambassador Sohail Mahmood.
Representatives from D-8 member countries including Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan attended the ceremony. Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, along with other senior officials and national and international guests, were also present at the event.
During the Basant cultural ceremony, centuries-old cultural traditions of Punjab were highlighted, featuring traditional kite flying, folk music, and a special arrangement of local cuisines.
The D-8 delegates appreciated the cultural charm of Punjab, its vibrant traditions, and the Government of Punjab’s initiatives for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
During their two-day stay, the D-8 delegation visited Wagah Border, Shalimar Gardens, Mazar-e-Iqbal, Badshahi Mosque, Hazuri Bagh, and the Lahore Fort.
At these historic and cultural sites, the delegation was given detailed briefings on Punjab’s civilizational, historical, and national significance.
During the visits, the delegates expressed keen interest in the remarkable progress made in various sectors in Punjab and in future development projects.
The delegation reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening cultural ties, economic cooperation, and people-to-people engagement with Pakistan, particularly Punjab.
At the conclusion of the visit, satisfaction was expressed over mutual goodwill, friendly relations, and the promotion of regional cooperation.
It was also agreed to advance shared development and cultural harmony through the D-8 platform.
