IHC directs jail admin to decide pleas regarding Imaan Mazari’s meetings

ISLAMABAD, Feb 06 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued written order regarding the petition of Shireen Mizari seeking jail facilities and meetings with Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha.
The converted the petition into a representation and sent it to the Superintendent Adiala Jail and directed that the petition be decided expeditiously as per the law.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir issued a two-page written order. In the written order, the court stated that Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha were sentenced on January 24, but according to the petitioner, they are not being provided with the facility of meeting their families and lawyers after the sentence.
The court said that the petitioner did not approach the relevant forum on this matter. The Islamabad High Court has converted the petition into a representation and sent it to the Superintendent Adiala Jail and directed that the petition be decided expeditiously as per the law.
The court clarified that matters related to the facilities provided to prisoners under the prison rules should first be raised at the relevant administrative forum, after which judicial proceedings are initiated.
