LAHORE, Feb 06 (APP): On the occasion of Basant festival in Lahore, people participated with great enthusiasm and colorful kites once again appeared in the sky of the city, proving that Lahore is the “City of Lively-Hearted People”.
Provincial Minister for Information and Broadcasting Azma Bokhari, while expressing her views regarding Basant, said on Friday that a cultural decision of Maryam Nawaz had won the hearts of people and she had returned happiness to them in the form of Basant.
Azma Bokhari said that overseas and foreign nationals also came to Lahore to celebrate Basant, which shows the importance of the festival and the cultural acceptance of the city.
She appealed to the public to celebrate Basant safely and also take care of the safety of others, adding that the police and district administration teams were strictly implementing the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Azma Bokhari called upon people to use things with “QR code” in strings and kites and that motorcyclists should not come on the roads without a safety rod. She clarified that those flying kites on rooftops were also bound by the SOPs.
Azma Bokhari said that the prices of kites and strings had come down significantly due to increased supply and the prices of kites and strings were expected to come down further with more supply arriving by Friday evening.
