PESHAWAR, Feb 06 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday held separate meetings with tribal elders from merged districts and a delegation of Bara Political Alliance at the Governor’s House, where issues related to security, compensation, development, and post-merger challenges were discussed in detail.
In the first meeting, a representative jirga of tribal elders from the merged district of North Waziristan, led by Malik Khan Marjan Wazir, called on the Governor.
The jirga included a large number of elders and notables from the Wazir and Dawar tribes. The members apprised the Governor of issues faced by affected families following anti-terrorism operations, particularly delays in compensation payments, as well as problems emerging after the merger of former FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They also highlighted the lack of peace, infrastructure, health, and education facilities in the area and urged early redressal of their grievances.
Governor Kundi assured the jirga that their concerns would be taken up with the relevant authorities.
He said resolving issues of the merged districts was among his top priorities and emphasized that tribal people would not be disappointed.
Acknowledging the sacrifices rendered by the people of merged districts for national security, he said the entire nation held these sacrifices in high esteem. The Governor also assured that concrete steps would be taken for the welfare and financial assistance of persons with disabilities in Waziristan.
Similarly, a delegation of the Bara Political Alliance, led by its President Hashim Khan Afridi, also met the Governor. Divisional President of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Misbahuddin, was present on the occasion. The delegation included senior political and tribal figures from Bara and Tirah.
The delegation raised key issues faced by Tirah affectees, including restoration of peace and order, post-displacement security situation, problems in registration due to Tirah addresses, hurdles linked to polio-based data, demand for a special relief package, implementation of the pledged Rs100 billion at the time of FATA merger, and a request for a meeting with the President of Pakistan.
Governor Kundi assured the delegation that address-related registration issues would be resolved and that federal authorities would be formally informed.
He further said issuance of BISP cards for Tirah affectees would be ensured to provide financial assistance.
He added that medical camps and relief packages were already being provided through the Pakistan Red Crescent, with further assistance to be extended.
The Bara Political Alliance thanked the Governor for his cooperation and assurances.
