RAWALPINDI, Feb 06 (APP): The Airport Police arrested eight suppliers, seizing thousands of kites and strings during a major operation, a Rawalpindi Police spokesman said on Friday.
The action, he said, was taken under the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani. During patrols, the police intercepted three vehicles loaded with kites and strings. Some 20,000 kites and 46 reels of string were recovered, leading to the arrest of eight accused.
The arrested individuals disclosed that they supplied kite-flying materials worth millions of rupees to various cities across the country. Separate cases were registered against the suspects.
Superintendent of Police Potohar Sardar Babar Mumtaz Khan warned that those involved in the dangerous activity would not escape the law, saying the kite flying was a non-bailable offence.
