Karak district villages to be provided natural gas supply soon: NA told

ISLAMABAD, Oct 03 (APP):Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan Wednesday
informed the National Assembly that all villages of district Karak would be
provided natural gas within the next few months.
The minister said this while responding to a calling attention notice moved by Shahid Ahmed regarding the non-supply of gas to 38 villages in Karak despite expenditure of Rs 922
million.
“Out of 38 villages, 29 villages had been provided gas-supply, while the remaining areas will be
gasified by the end of the current year,” he added.
Ghaulam Sarwar said, “Council of Common Interest (CCI) recommended the case, and soon the
issue of will be put before Economic Coordination Committee (ECC)
for final approval and the remaining 9 village will provided gas
soon”.
He said that as per rule, the village come under the cover of five kilometer,
the companies are bound to provide the gas supply to the that areas.
However, he said , if the areas do not come under the five kilometer, companies, federal and
provincial government provide funds for the connection.
He expressed the hope that gas theft in the area will be ended after providing legal connection.
“I will personally visit Karak and provide gas metro to the houses” he added
