ISLAMABAD, Feb 05 (APP):Federal Minister for Energy, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari Thursday said that Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is unwavering, principled, and rooted in the nation’s commitment to justice, human rights, and the right to self-determination.
In his message, the minister stated that Kashmir Solidarity Day serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s firm solidarity with the Kashmiri people who have been enduring decades of oppression and denial of fundamental rights.
He emphasized that the freedom of Kashmir and the realization of the right to self-determination remain a permanent and central priority of Pakistan.
Sardar Awais Leghari said that the struggle of the Kashmiri people is legitimate and fully supported by United Nations resolutions.
He strongly condemned the grave human rights violations being committed in IIoJK, describing them as a serious challenge to the conscience of the international community.
He highlighted the widespread use of pellet guns against innocent civilians, enforced disappearances, illegal detentions, and restrictions on freedom of expression as clear violations of international law.
He added that the arrest of Kashmiri political leadership and suppression of dissent are aimed at silencing the just voice of the Kashmiri people.
The federal minister also expressed deep concern over attempts to change the demographic structure of the occupied territory, warning that such actions are designed to marginalize the local population and undermine their identity and rights.
Referring to India’s unilateral and illegal actions of August 2019, he said these steps had further intensified instability in South Asia and worsened the human rights situation in IIoJK.
He reiterated that lasting peace in the region is impossible without a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Sardar Awais Leghari reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to provide full and unconditional support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle for the right to self-determination and urged the international community to take effective action to stop human rights abuses and ensure a fair and durable solution to the Kashmir issue.
“Pakistan will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of IIoJK in their just cause,” he said.
