Rana Qasim Noon reaffirms Pakistan’s support for Kashmir cause; Anwar-ul-Haq echoes call for international action

ISLAMABAD, Feb 05 (APP):Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Rana Qasim Noon on Thursday reiterated Pakistan’s continued political and diplomatic support for the Kashmir cause, urging the international community to address the issue keeping in view prevailing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the Kashmir Rally participants at D-Chowk, Rana Qasim Noon said Pakistan stands in solidarity with Kashmiris and supports their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
He called on global human rights organizations and international institutions to facilitate what he termed a free, impartial, and fair plebiscite reflecting the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
He criticized developments following August 5, 2019, including the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A by India, increased military presence, restrictions on civil liberties, and challenges faced by Kashmiri youth in accessing higher education.
He also called for the release of detained Kashmiri political leaders and restoration of the region’s previous constitutional status.
Parliamentary Secretary for Kashmir Affairs Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq subsequently echoed similar views, reaffirming Pakistan’s diplomatic backing for Kashmiris and urging international human rights organizations and United Nations bodies to play a more active role in addressing the issue.
He said Pakistan has consistently raised the Kashmir issue at international forums, including the United Nations, and stressed that a peaceful resolution in line with international law and the wishes of the Kashmiri people remains essential for lasting peace in South Asia.
Both leaders emphasized that regional stability is closely linked to resolving the Kashmir dispute and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kashmiris through political and diplomatic means.
