CM, Nawaz Sharif meet Iranian envoy

LAHORE, Feb 04 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam, here on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on trade, energy cooperation, and regional issues, with both sides expressing resolve to deepen Pakistan-Iran ties and expand cooperation across various sectors.
Welcoming the Iranian ambassador, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif invited Iranian investors to explore investment opportunities in Punjab, particularly in agriculture, information technology and tourism. She reiterated her commitment to expanding economic and social linkages between the two countries.
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif emphasized the importance of dialogue in resolving complex issues, lauded Iran’s resilience, and said he would accompany the chief minister on a future visit to Iran. He also conveyed his prayers and good wishes for Iran’s leadership and people.
Dr Moghadam thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for their support and praised the warm reception extended to him. He described Pakistan and Iran as “two bodies and one soul,” highlighting the shared regional and cultural bonds, and expressed appreciation for the chief minister’s facilitation of Persian language and student-related initiatives.
Dr Moghadam said that the Iranian nation prayed for Nawaz Sharif’s health and safety and viewed him as a pillar of Pakistan’s stability and security, noting his vital role in promoting unity within the Islamic world and strengthening Pak-Iran relations.
