PESHAWAR, Feb 04 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jahan, has taken immediate notice of public complaints regarding alleged bribery by certain officials of the Excise Police Station Squad near Pir Zakori Bridge in Peshawar.
During a Public Day event held in connection with the Excise Department on Wednesday, citizens reportedly pointed out the officials involved in receiving illegal money from the public. Acting swiftly on the minister’s directives, the officials have been immediately suspended, while orders have also been issued for a transparent and comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
The provincial minister stated that a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and illegal activities is being strictly enforced in the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department.
Syed Fakhar Jahan urged the public to report departmental complaints without fear, assuring them that strict and timely action will be taken.
He further directed all officers and officials to maintain respectful and dignified behavior with citizens and ensure full implementation of the policy of “First Salam, Then Kalam.” He reiterated that public facilitation will be ensured in a proper manner, no citizen will be harassed unnecessarily and any official found involved in illegal activities will face action according to rules and regulations.
