NHMP chief urges trainee ASPs to uphold integrity, professionalism

ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (APP): Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry on Wednesday urged under-training assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) to uphold integrity, discipline and professionalism, describing policing as a dignified profession centred on the protection of citizens’ life and property.

He was addressing ASPs from the 28th Initial Command Course of the 52nd Specialised Training Programme during their visit to the NHMP Central Police Office in Islamabad.

The IGP said public service, supremacy of law and delivery of justice were the core principles of police service, and stressed that officers must discharge their duties with dedication under all circumstances.

He advised the trainee officers to continuously enhance their professional skills, understand the demands of modern policing and make effective use of technology to improve service delivery.

Highlighting the role of the NHMP, Chaudhry said the force’s mission was to ensure the safety of travellers on motorways and national highways through high professional standards and timely assistance.

He added that the NHMP had earned public trust by promoting a culture of courtesy and on-road support, calling its performance a source of pride for the nation.

Earlier, Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Masroor Alam Kolachi briefed the visiting officers on the organisational structure, professional performance and operational responsibilities of the NHMP.

During the visit, the trainee ASPs were also briefed at the NHMP Command and Control Centre on the functioning of the 130 helpline.

They later visited the motorway main toll plaza to receive an overview of the Public Service Vehicle Management Information System, and concluded the tour with a visit to the NHMP North Region Sector Office at Khairabad.
