ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (APP):Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Engr Waseem Nazir on Wednesday reaffirmed the unwavering solidarity of the entire engineering community of Pakistan with the people of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), paying tribute to their decades-long struggle for the right to self-determination.
In his message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, Engr. Waseem Nazir said the Kashmiri people have faced systematic oppression, denial of fundamental rights, and grave human rights violations for years, while their legitimate demand for self-determination, guaranteed under United Nations Security Council resolutions, remains unfulfilled.
Highlighting the role of engineers as nation-builders and promoters of sustainable development, the PEC chairman stressed that peace, progress, and prosperity cannot thrive in an environment of injustice and suppression. He said the engineering community of Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their peaceful struggle for dignity, freedom, and justice.
Engr Nazir urged the international community, the United Nations, and global human rights organizations to go beyond statements and take concrete actions to end ongoing human rights abuses in IIOJK. He emphasized the need for the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions and accountability for those responsible for violations.
Reaffirming PEC’s commitment, he said the council and the country’s engineering fraternity would continue to raise their voice at all national and international forums in support of Kashmir and remain engaged in all lawful and peaceful efforts for a just and lasting resolution of the dispute.
He concluded by expressing hope that the resilience and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people would soon lead to freedom, peace, and prosperity.
