ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (APP):Google on Wednesday marked the lead-up to the Winter Olympics 2026 by featuring an interactive Doodle celebrating the sport of curling, as competition in the discipline got underway in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
According to Google, the Doodle highlights winter sports with a special focus on curling, often described as “chess on ice,” a team game in which players slide granite stones across ice towards a circular target known as the house.
Curling competitions at the Milano Cortina 2026 began on Tuesday with the Mixed Doubles preliminary round in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The interactive Doodle also allows users to explore winter sports through a mini-game and learn about the host cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Curling originated in 16th-century Scotland and became a permanent part of the Winter Olympics in 1998.
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will officially open on Friday (February 6) and run until February 22, with events spread across northern Italy, including Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
