KARACHI, Feb 03 (APP): Pakistan Rangers Sindh, acting on intelligence-based information, arrested three alleged extortionists from the Super Market area of Liaquatabad.
According to a Rangers spokesperson on Tuesday, the arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Iqbal, alias Pappu, son of Imam Din, Muhammad Meraj son of Nasiruddin, and Babar Khan Bangash son of Zaheer Khan Bangash. The suspects were involved in extortion activities in the Super Market Liaquatabad area.
The spokesperson said the accused were collecting extortion money amounting to approximately Rs 400,000 on a daily basis from shopkeepers and pushcart vendors in the area. They allegedly issued death threats to those who refused to pay, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation among local traders.
The arrested men are described as habitual offenders, with multiple FIRs already registered against them at various police stations across the city.
Raids are underway to arrest their remaining accomplices. After completing initial legal formalities, the arrested suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and legal action.
