ISLAMABAD, Feb 03 (APP):National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday said Shab-i-Barat offered an important opportunity for self-accountability, repentance and seeking forgiveness, urging the nation to pray for Pakistan’s security, unity and an end to terrorism.
In a message on the occasion, the speaker said the sacred night encouraged believers to reflect on their deeds, express remorse over shortcomings and reform their lives in line with Islamic teachings.
He described Shab-i-Barat as a night of mercy, forgiveness and blessings, when divine grace was bestowed upon believers.
Calling for prayers at both individual and collective levels, Ayaz Sadiq said the occasion should be used to seek progress, stability and prosperity for the country, and to recognise shared national responsibilities.
He also called on the nation to express gratitude to Allah for what he described as Pakistan’s victory over India in last year’s conflict, terming it a result of divine support, the sacrifices of the armed forces and national unity.
Expressing grief over recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan, the speaker urged special prayers on Shab-i-Barat for the elimination of terrorism from the country.
He prayed for the elevation of ranks of those martyred in such incidents and for the early recovery of the injured, adding that the nation stood in solidarity with the affected families.
Ayaz Sadiq further appealed for prayers for oppressed Muslims across the world, particularly in Palestine and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic and political support for their legitimate struggles.
In a separate message, Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah also extended greetings to the nation on Shab-i-Barat, saying the occasion imparted lessons of patience, tolerance, brotherhood and mutual respect.
He urged citizens to renew their commitment to unity, harmony and collective welfare.
