MULTAN, Feb 03 (APP): Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan paid a surprise visit to the emergency block of Nishtar hospital Multan Tuesday where he observed deficiencies and ordered officials to meet them at the earliest for proper patient care arrangements.
During the visit, he conducted a detailed inspection of various departments, including the emergency ward, CT Scan Unit, Radiology department, and Orthopedic ward.
The commissioner interacted directly with patients and their attendants to inquire about the quality of medical services and availability of medicines. Patients and caregivers expressed satisfaction over the healthcare facilities and the provision of medicines at the hospital.
Sharing operational details, commissioner Khan stated that 1050 patients were provided medical treatment in Nishtar emergency in a single day, highlighting the heavy patient load and the importance of efficient service delivery.
He issued on-the-spot directives for the immediate repair of non-functional wheelchairs and instructed hospital management to further improve cleanliness in ward corridors. He also ordered that duty rosters, along with staff names, must be prominently displayed in all relevant areas for transparency and accountability.
Addressing infrastructure issues, commissioner directed that the problem relating lifts in the emergency block be resolved within three weeks. He also ordered the replacement of broken benches in the CT Scan waiting area and damaged shelves in the pantry of the Orthopedic ward.
Furthermore, he instructed that attendants currently staying in the corridors of the Orthopedic ward on temporary beds should be shifted to alternative shelter facilities (Sarais) to ensure better patient flow and hospital hygiene.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) of Nishtar Hospital was directed to ensure the provision of additional wheelchairs, replacement of damaged benches and shelves, and improvement of lighting at the entrance of the Orthopedic ward to enhance patient safety and comfort.
