RAWALPINDI, Feb 03 (APP): The Child Protection Institution (CPI) Rawalpindi rescued 113 children during 23 operations carried out in January to ensure child protection, rehabilitation and welfare.
District Officer Child Protection Agency Rawalpindi Rao Khalil told APP on Tuesday that the rescue operations were conducted between January 1 and January 31, 2026, resulting in the recovery of children from various hazardous, exploitative and unsafe situations.
He said the rescued children were immediately placed in protective custody and provided with a safe environment, medical assistance, food and psychological support to help them recover from physical and mental trauma and reintegrate into normal life.
Rao Khalil said that as a result of coordinated efforts by the CPI, 32 children, whose families were traced, were safely reunited with their relatives.
He said the Child Protection Institution’s helpline received 35 calls during January reporting cases of child abuse, missing children and other protection concerns. Prompt action was taken on these calls, with response teams ensuring the safety of the affected children.
According to the monthly report, 178 psychological counselling sessions were conducted for affected and rescued children to help them overcome fear, stress and trauma, and support their social rehabilitation.
On the legal front, he said one first information report was registered in connection with a crime against a child to ensure legal action against those responsible and protection of children’s rights.
Rao Khalil said the Child Protection Institution Rawalpindi considered child protection its top priority and would further strengthen rescue, rehabilitation, counselling and legal mechanisms through enhanced cooperation with government departments and civil society organisations.
