DUBAI, Feb 02 (APP): Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan, Monday attended an event organized by Earth Warriorz and the Pakistan Youth Forum (PYF) at the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), featuring screening of the documentary titled “The Last Village”.
The event aimed to engage Pakistani youth and the diaspora in dialogue on climate change and community resilience.
Addressing the gathering, the Consul General appreciated the efforts of Ms. Emaan Danish, Founder of Earth Warriorz, and her team, and commended PYF for mobilizing young Pakistanis on an issue of global and national importance.
The Consul General emphasized that Pakistan remains among the countries most affected by climate change despite contributing less than one percent to global emissions. He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment under its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), including emissions reduction, renewable energy expansion, and large-scale afforestation.
Hussain stressed the need for enhanced global cooperation, climate finance, and technology transfer, urging developed countries to support developing nations in building climate resilience.
The Consul General underscored the critical role of youth in climate action and encouraged collective efforts toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
He said that the Last Village, documentary effectively highlights the severe impact of climate change on vulnerable communities in Swat, Pakistan, and underscored that climate change is not only an environmental issue but also a humanitarian and socio-economic challenge.
