Karachi Police arrest over 800 suspects in week-long anti-crime operations

KARACHI, Feb 02 (APP): Acting on the directives of the Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi, city police carried out extensive anti-crime operations over the past week, resulting in multiple encounters with criminals and the arrest of hundreds of suspects.
According to a Karachi Police spokesperson on Monday, district police were involved in 24 encounters with robbers across the city during the week. In the exchange of fire, two suspects were killed, while 21 injured robbers were arrested.
A total of 36 suspects were taken into custody during these encounters, and police recovered 29 illegal weapons of various types along with 15 motorcycles.
The spokesperson said that during the same period, police arrested more than 809 suspects from different areas of Karachi, including the East, West and South zones, as part of ongoing crime-control efforts.
As part of the crackdown against narcotics, police recovered drugs worth millions of rupees from various localities. The seized contraband included 14.522 kilograms of charas, 4.305 kilograms of ice/crystal, and 4.484 kilograms of heroin.
Police also recovered more than 130 illegal weapons with ammunition that were allegedly used in street crimes and other criminal activities.
In addition, Karachi Police recovered a total of 42 snatched or stolen motorcycles and seven cars during raids conducted in different parts of the city. Police officials said the operations would continue to curb street crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
