ISLAMABAD, Feb 2 (APP):The Anti-Terrorism Court of Islamabad on Monday extended pre-arrest bail for several lawyers facing charges over a clash with police.
The court fixed February 19 as the next date of hearing and directed the accused to join the investigation.
The case relates to an alleged fight between lawyers and police personnel. Former Islamabad High Court Bar Association president Riyasat Ali Azad, Niazullah Niazi, Mustafeen Kazmi, and Zahid Mahmood Raja appeared before the court.
The hearing was conducted by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain.
During proceedings, the court ordered the accused to cooperate with police and take part in the investigation process. The judge also sought arguments from both sides at the next hearing.
According to case details, a first information report has been registered at Secretariat Police Station under sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The prosecution alleges that the accused were involved in violence and disorder during the incident with police.
Defense lawyers requested an extension in pre-arrest bail, arguing that their clients were present before the court and were ready to comply with legal requirements. The court accepted the request and extended interim relief until February 19.
The case will be taken up again on the next date, when the court will hear arguments from the prosecution and defense before deciding further action.
