ISLAMABAD, Feb 02 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday stressed the need for the provincial government to offer effective incentives to the business community so that traders from KP prefer investing within their own province rather than moving to Punjab.
He said a comprehensive review of industrial and commercial policies has become the need of the hour to promote economic activities in the province.
The Governor expressed these views while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Peshawar-based HBK Hyper Market in Islamabad. On his arrival, he was warmly received by prominent business figures including Chairman HBK Group Imdad Khan Afridi, CEO Dr Mohibullah Afridi, Director Aamir Khan Afridi, Chairman Revive Pakistan Imran Ali, and others.
Governor Kundi said that investment by Peshawar’s business community in Islamabad is a positive and welcome development, reflecting a bright and progressive image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, he regretted that compared to Rashakai Industrial Zone, investors in Punjab are being offered more incentives, which is compelling KP investors to shift their businesses to other provinces.
He emphasized that the provincial government must seriously revisit its industrial and commercial policies so that institutions like HBK and other investors give priority to investing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Governor also urged the business community to formulate their strategies while keeping in view the purchasing power of the public and the prevailing challenging economic conditions.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appreciated HBK’s assurance of cooperation in promoting sports and projecting a positive image of the province.
He expressed hope that the private sector would continue to play an effective role in this regard. Later, the Governor also visited various sections of the hypermarket.
