RAWALPINDI, Feb 02 (APP): Acting on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, Rawalpindi Police have intensified their crackdown against kite sellers, arresting 10 suspects and seizing more than 1,600 kites along with 24 spools of string, police said on Monday.
According to a police spokesperson, Taxila Police detained two kite sellers and recovered 1,008 kites and three spools of string.
Similarly, Naseerabad Police arrested another kite seller with 300 kites and two spools, while Wah Cantt Police took two suspects into custody and seized 215 kites and eight spools.
Additionally, Pirwadhai Police arrested one suspect and recovered 60 kites and two spools, Dhamiyal Police seized 40 kites from individual and Westridge Police recovered 30 kites and string from another suspect.
Race Course Police arrested two suspects and seized 25 kites and eight spools of string.
Separate cases have been registered against all the arrested suspects, and further legal action is under way, the spokesperson said.
Kite flying is a non-bailable offence under the law and warned that those involved in the “dangerous and deadly practice” would not escape the grip of the law, the spokesperson added.
