ISLAMABAD, Feb 2 (APP):Uzbek ministers visited various infrastructure, mines and mineral projects for bilateral strategic partnership and regional integration during their visit to Pakistan.
Mr. Laziz Sh. Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Shokhrukh Kh. Gulamov, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, and Bekhzot Narmatov, Advisor to the Minister for Digital Transformation and Overseas Operations, along with other senior Uzbek government officials, who are currently visiting Pakistan, were invited by Pakistan’s largest conglomerate for a business orientation visit, said a release issued here on Monday.

The Uzbek Ministers delegation spent a productive and comprehensive day visiting various flagship projects of the Habib Rafiq Engineering (Private) Limited Group, hosted by Mr.Zahid Rafiq, Chairman of HRL Group, along with senior management of the HRL Group.
The visit provided an in-depth overview of HRL’s contributions to infrastructure development, urban planning, industrial growth, and sustainable development in Pakistan.
As part of the visit, the delegation visited Pakistan’s first Smart City project, “Capital Smart City,” located near Islamabad.
During the visit, Zaheer-ud-Din Babur Avenue was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Laziz Sh. Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is noteworthy that Zaheer-ud-Din Babur passed through this region in 1524 during his journey into the Indian subcontinent. The development of Capital Smart City at this historically significant location symbolizes the enduring historical, cultural, and civilizational ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, which are now being revitalized through modern development and cooperation.
In addition to that the Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between Mr. Omonov Khayitboy Akhmadalievich, Director General of Uzbekistan Overseas Geological Company, and Jahanzeb Zahid Rafiq, Deputy Chairman of Habib Rafiq Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd.
Laziz Kudratov, Minister of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, were also present.
Through this agreement, Habib Rafiq Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd. and the Uzbek counterparts aim to collaborate in joint geological surveys, mineral exploration projects, exchange of technical expertise, technology transfer, and the adoption of modern and sustainable mining practices.
The partnership reflects Uzbekistan’s growing role as a key regional player in mineral exploration, supported by strong geological expertise, skilled human capital, and reform-driven investment policies, while also contributing to Pakistan’s mineral development potential.
During the visit, the senior management of HRL Group, including Mr. Muhammad Aslam Malik, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the HRL Group, Mr. Zahid Nadeem CEO of HRL group, Mr. Imran Zahid CEO of Capital Smart Motors and Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Adviser to Chairman HRL,were also present among others.
The visit highlights the shared commitment of Pakistan and Uzbekistan to deepen bilateral cooperation, strengthen institutional partnerships, and promote sustainable economic development through strategic collaboration in the infrastructure, minerals, and investment sectors.
