RAWALPINDI, Feb 02 (APP):The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has intensified sanitation operations across Chakwal district and its tehsils of Kallar Kahar and Chua Syedan Shah to ensure a clean and healthy environment.
According to the RWMC spokesman, as many as 838 workers were deployed daily, supported by 161 small and large fleet vehicles, 1,546 waste containers, 32 waste enclosures, one transfer collection point and one landfill site. About 260 tones of waste are collected each day, while 4,185 complaints have been resolved so far.
The district comprises 37 union councils, including five urban and 32 rural. Cleaning work in Chakwal city’s five union councils is being supervised by 10 supervisors, with an assistant manager overseeing urban areas. Key localities include Dhakou Road, Mohalla Rehmaniya, Ali Akbar Town and Ashraf Town.
Chief Executive Officer RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar said cleanliness arrangements in Chakwal had been organised comprehensively. “Through door-to-door waste collection, cleanliness in markets, schools and mosques, and awareness campaigns under the Suthra Punjab programme, we are promoting civic responsibility,” he said.
He stressed that public cooperation was essential for the success of the campaign and urged citizens to dispose of waste properly and participate in cleanliness initiatives. Complaints can be lodged through helpline 1139, the Suthra Punjab Citizen App and RWMC’s social media platforms, he added.
RWMC’s communication teams are conducting door-to-door awareness activities in markets, schools and mosques across the district, he said, adding that residents had expressed satisfaction with sanitation standards and pledged continued cooperation.
The campaign aims not only to keep streets and roads clean but also to raise public awareness to help make Chakwal a model clean city, he added.
