ABBOTTABAD, Feb 02 (APP):A man lost his life on Monday while two others narrowly survived after a gas heater left burning caused suffocation in Jinnah Abad, Street No. 5.
According to local sources, Asadullah son of Nematullah, a resident of Charsadda, died on the spot due to gas inhalation. Two of his cousins, Shoaib and sons of Khan Wali, fell unconscious but were later revived. Their condition is reported to be stable.
This incident is part of a disturbing pattern of similar tragedies in the Hazara Division, particularly in Abbottabad, where dozens of people including men, women and students have lost their lives or fallen seriously ill in recent years due to gas leaks, faulty heaters, and poor ventilation during winter.
Only last year, multiple incidents were reported in Abbottabad and its suburbs where entire families were affected by gas suffocation, while educational institutions also witnessed cases of students fainting due to gas leakage.
Despite repeated warnings from authorities, such incidents continue to occur, raising serious concerns about public awareness and safety measures.
Local residents have urged the district administration and gas authorities to intensify awareness campaigns and conduct inspections, especially during the winter season, to prevent further loss of precious lives.
