MIRPUR (AJK) Sep 30 (APP)::Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan Sunday strongly condemned unprovoked fire by the Indian occupation forces on the civilian helicopter carrying Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and his cabinet members, near the Line of Control in Haveli district.
Terming it as an act of cowardice, the AJK President, in a statement, said such acts by the Indian forces would not intimidate “our leadership and civilians in their struggle towards ascertaining the right to self determination of the Kashmiri people living under the oppressive Indian rule in the occupied territory.”
He said the act displayed India’s insecurities and had exposed their aggressive posturing and warmongering. Such manoeuvers by the Indian government and forces were aimed at diverting attention from the real issue of Kashmir and the grave human rights violations taking place in the Indian occupied Kashmir, he added.
President Masood said the unprovoked fire on the AJK prime minister’s helicopter was a tactic used to raise tensions in the area and delay any prospective talks on Kashmir.
He said Indian government should forgo such gimmicks and threatening tactics, and instead come to the dialogue table for resolving the issue of Kashmir in a peaceful manner as envisioned under the UN Security Council resolutions.
The president also called Prime Minister Raja Farooq and inquired about the incident and expressed relief on his remaining safe.
