PESHAWAR, Feb 01 (APP):The Bara Political Alliance on Sunday announced complete solidarity, sympathy and support for all families temporarily displaced from Tirah.
The announcement was made during an important jirga convened by the Bara Political Alliance in Bara, Khyber to discuss the Tirah issue, where prominent tribal elders addressed the gathering.
Participants of the jirga strongly voiced their support for peace and sharply criticized the provincial government over alleged incompetence and corruption in the funds allocated for the Tirah affectees.
Tribal elders stated that corruption and political interference in the distribution of Rs 4 billion earmarked for Tirah victims is unacceptable.
The agenda of the national jirga was presented by former Chairman of the Bara Political Alliance, Haji Shireen Afridi.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that jirgas were held twice with the Khawarij, after which the responsibility was handed over to the provincial government and the tribal elders of Tirah. However, he added, both jirga efforts ultimately failed.
The jirga elders emphasized that the problems of the Tirah affectees are not limited to any single area or tribe but constitute a collective national issue. They warned that any further delay in resolving these issues is intolerable.
They further stated that during all stages of the temporary evacuation and negotiations, the provincial government, particularly the political leadership of District Khyber was present and the decision for temporary displacement was taken only after thorough consultation with them.
