PU organizes annual sports, family festival

LAHORE, Jan 31 (APP): The Punjab University Officers Welfare Association (PUOWA) organized its annual sports and family festival at the ground of Hailey College of Commerce, here on Saturday.
Punjab University officers and their families actively participated in the event. Vice Chancellor Punjab University Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, Treasurer Tasneem Kamran, Controller of Examinations Muhammad Rauf Nawaz, Director Sports Dr Muhammad Shabbir Sarwar, PUOWA President Dr Toqeer Ali, General Secretary Rana Muzaffar Ali, Sports Festival Coordinator Malik Sarfraz Khalid, along with other administrative officers, were present on the occasion.
Various sports competitions, including cricket, tug of war, athletics and other games, were held among university officers, while teams such as Registrar Tigers, Old Campus Thunder, Controller Badshah and IT Eagles participated in the cricket tournament.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that sports play a vital role in maintaining physical health, adding that participation in such activities enhances work efficiency and provides healthy recreational opportunities for officers, their families and children.
PUOWA President Dr Toqeer Ali and General Secretary Rana Muzaffar Ali said that university officers work tirelessly throughout the year and that such festivals offer them a refreshing and pleasant environment while also strengthening camaraderie. They thanked the vice chancellor and participants for their presence and support.
The families and children of officers actively took part in the festival, where food stalls were also set up. A special tug-of-war competition was organized for children, and at the concluding ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali awarded the trophy to the winning cricket team, Controller Badshah, and distributed gifts among the participating children.
