FAISALABAD, Jan 30 (APP): Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh praised prompt action taken by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz following the tragic death of a mother and daughter after falling into a sewer line in Lahore.
In a statement here on Friday, he referred to the incident that occurred a day earlier, in which the mother and daughter lost their lives after falling into an uncovered sewer and lauded the Chief Minister for taking immediate notice of the matter.
He said that such prompt intervention reflected the government’s seriousness in addressing public safety concerns and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
If the bureaucracy was held accountable for such incidents and those found responsible were punished in a timely manner, it would not only help ensure the protection of lives and property of the citizens but also instill a strong sense of responsibility among the government officers, he added.
The FCCI Chief emphasized that strict accountability and proactive governance were imperative to improve civic management and restore public confidence in state institutions. The decisive action in such cases could serve as an effective deterrent against negligence, he added.
