ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (APP): The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Friday granted pre-arrest bail to senior journalist Khalid Jamil in a case registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The court approved bail on surety bonds of Rs 5,000 and adjourned the hearing until 13 February.
Khalid Jamil approached the court seeking pre-arrest bail after a case was registered against him under PECA. The matter was heard by Judge Afzal Majoka, who took up the bail application.
During the hearing, Khalid Jamil appeared before the court along with his legal counsel. The defence argued for protection from arrest and requested the court to grant pre-arrest bail until the next hearing.
After hearing the arguments, the court approved Khalid Jamil’s pre-arrest bail application. The judge granted bail until February 13 against surety bonds worth Rs 5,000.
