SARGODHA, Jan 30 (APP): In the wake of the tragic incident at Bhati Gate Lahore, Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Friday chaired a meeting to review safety arrangements at ongoing development projects across the division.
According to the Commissioner’s spokesperson here, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and Bhakkar districts, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sargodha, and heads of various administrative departments.
Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner made it clear that in case of any accident or negligence, the head of the concerned department executing the project would be held responsible.
He directed all departments to strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and submit comprehensive reports on safety measures within seven days.
The Commissioner emphasized the need for strict monitoring at all ongoing development sites to prevent mishaps.
He also highlighted the issue of manhole cover theft and instructed concerned departments to take immediate preventive steps.
On this occasion, the Regional Police Officer assured full cooperation from the police to curb incidents of manhole and cover theft.
Furthermore, the Commissioner issued special instructions to WASA, the Irrigation Department, Local Government authorities, and Highway officials to ensure the implementation of precautionary measures at all worksites in the interest of public safety.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of zero tolerance for negligence and a commitment to safeguarding lives during development activities across the Sargodha Division.
