DDWP approves PERA station, fog gun purchase to curb smog in Gojra

FAISALABAD, Jan 30 (APP):Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) has approved the establishment of a Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA) station in Tehsil Gojra of Toba Tek Singh district in addition to the purchase of a fog gun machine with essential equipment under the Municipal Corporation to control smog and dust pollution.
Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar chaired DDWP meeting on Friday while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir, Additional Commissioner Coordination Tanveer Murtaza, Director Development Asif Chohan, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Malik Murtaza and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
The meeting was informed that fog gun machine would play a key role in significantly reducing dust during road construction activities. The officials said that effective dust suppression would help improve the Air Quality Index (AQI) and prevent environmental pollution particularly during development works.
The participants were told that establishment of PERA station would strengthen enforcement and regulatory mechanisms in the area.
Divisional Commissioner approved establishment of PERA stations and purchase of fog gun and said these measures would contribute for improving environmental management and public health protection in Tehsil Gojra.
