MUZAFFARGARH, Jan 30 (APP):A meeting of the District Prison Health Council was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Layyah, Asif Ali Dogar, to review and enhance healthcare facilities for inmates at the district jail.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on ensuring better and uninterrupted medical services for prisoners. The Deputy Commissioner directed the authorities to maintain a continuous supply of basic medical test kits and essential medicines at the jail.
He further ordered the provision of wheelchairs and a cardiac monitor for inmates and directed the concerned departments to initiate necessary measures for the replacement of the jail ambulance to strengthen emergency medical response.
The meeting also decided to deploy an additional Medical Officer at District Jail Layyah. Moreover, strict compliance with duty rosters of consultants and paramedical staff at the jail hospital was instructed to ensure round-the-clock medical care.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Dogar stated that providing quality healthcare facilities to prisoners is a fundamental responsibility of the state, and all possible steps would be taken to ensure the welfare of inmates.
