MULTAN, Jan 30 (APP): In an effort to preserve and promote the cultural identity of Multan’s traditional delicacy, Multani Sohan Halwa, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in collaboration with the Department of Food Science, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) organised a special exhibition focusing on food safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
The exhibition highlighted the preparation of traditional Multani Sohan Halwa in accordance with modern food safety regulations and hygienic practices. A large number of food experts, faculty members, and students participated in the event.
The primary objective of the exhibition was to promote traditional confectionery products by ensuring they are safe, standardized as per latest food sciences requirements.
Deputy Director Operations, PFA, Umair Hanif attended the exhibition as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Multani Sohan Halwa was not just a sweet but a symbol of Multan’s rich cultural heritage.
“Strict adherence to food safety principles and the use of pure ingredients in the preparation of traditional sweets was essential,” he emphasized.
He further stated that PFA was actively working with educational institutions to bring positive reforms in the food industry. He reiterated that no compromise will be made on the quality of Multani Sohan Halwa, and assured that PFA, in collaboration with the Department of Food Science, will continue efforts to further enhance quality standards.
