Iran, Syria FMs discus Astana process for peace in Syria
NEW YORK, Sep 29 (APP):A meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Moallem was held on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two foreign ministers also discussed regional issues, with Zarif underlining the need to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
Zarif arrived in New York on Sunday with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to attend the
193-member Assembly session.
Earlier, Zarif held talks with the foreign ministers of Group 4+1 (Britain, China, France and Russia + Germany) on the Iran nuclear deal, as well as counterparts from other countries.
He also participated in the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit held on the sidelines of the Assembly.
