ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (APP): A two-day Free Medical Camp organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH), in collaboration with the University of Modern Sciences (UoMS), Tando Muhammad Khan and other partners was inaugurated on Friday at Civil Hospital, Chachro, Tharparkar.
Gourmet Foods, District Administration, and District Health Department, Government of Sindh also collaborate d in this initiative.

The medical camp was formally inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Chachro Muhammad Usman Khasklali, Chairman Town Committee Chachro Murtaza Bajeer, Taluka Health Officer Dr. Mohan Dhanani, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Lajpal. They were joined by Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Chancellor, University of Modern Sciences; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz Khan, Advisor to the Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH; and Muhammad Murtaza Noor, Focal Person/Coordinator OIC-COMSTECH.
Senior officials of Rescue 1122, media representatives, and other prominent local personalities were also present on the occasion.

More than 40 members, comprising senior doctors, paramedical staff, and senior officials from OIC-COMSTECH and Indus Medical College and Hospital, participated in the medical camp to ensure smooth service delivery.
During the first day of the camp, more than 1,400 patients were examined and treated, and free medicines were distributed among deserving patients. In a notable development, two successful deliveries of baby boys were also conducted at the facility during the camp, reflecting the availability of essential maternal healthcare services.
The two-day medical camp aims to provide free medical consultations, basic diagnostic tests, and free medicines to underserved and remote communities of Tharparkar.
Special emphasis has been placed on eye care services. Qualified eye specialists are conducting vision screening and eye examinations, and free distance vision glasses are being provided to deserving patients after proper testing to help address common visual impairments in the region.
A team of qualified doctors from Indus Medical College, along with COMSTECH officials and local health authorities, is actively engaged to ensure effective coordination and quality healthcare delivery.
The camp is expected to benefit a large number of patients, particularly women, children, and elderly residents of the area.
The initiative reflects OIC-COMSTECH’s continued commitment, in collaboration with its partners, to humanitarian outreach and improving access to basic healthcare services in marginalized and hard-to-reach areas of member states.
